For my birthday, I went to 311 with my brother, Jordon (also a graphic designer).
He has previously seen them numerous times and originally wasn’t going to go this time around, but his wife won him tickets on the radio (X96) …she went to Kelly Clarkson. The concert was at the USANA Ampitheatre, which I have not been to before and since our tickets were free, we were out in the lawn area. Which would have been great if it wasnt raining because we could have sat down at one point or another.
The Expendables and Ziggy Marley opened the Show.
The Expendables has a very similar sound to 311.
Ziggy Marley sang alot of his father, Bob Marley songs and sounds alot like him.
As for 311 themselves, I have always been a casual fan and never really got into their music. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy it. I do. They are very talented. I just wish that I would have known more of their music before the concert.
As for the atmosphere of the audience, for the most part… everyone was extremely mellow. There was a few punks thinking they were funny. And girls passed out. I was not suprised, but a little amazed by how much weed smoking there was at the show. It felt like my brother and I were the only one’s who were not lighting up.
